Job Description
Overview: JOB SUMMARY
This position will be primarily involved in federal, state, and international income tax compliance, accounting for income taxes, and other special projects as assigned. The Senior Tax Accountant works collaboratively with the Tax Supervisor, and Tax Manager, to meet the income tax and tax accounting requirements of the company, related US and foreign affiliates. The Senior Tax Accountant interacts with other members of the accounting, finance, and operations teams to obtain the necessary information.
 
 

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare federal income tax returns, extensions, estimated tax payments, Schedule M calculations, and related supporting documentation.
Prepare state income and franchise tax returns, extensions, estimated payments, state modifications, and apportionment computations.
Prepare 5471's, 1120F's, and related calculations. 
Extract, transform, and load data in tax sensitive format to support the compliance and tax provision process.
Analyze SAP account data, reconcile tax related accounts, run reports, and capture information and documentation required.
Manage Corptax system, upload data, run reports, enter adjustments, print returns, upload efile documentation, and facilitate efiling of the federal income tax return and applicable state income tax returns.
Develop data and analyses for income/franchise tax forecasting and audits.
Research and interpret tax law, respond to tax notices and inquiries.
Monitor and identify new or revised federal, state, local and international tax law changes which could impact the company.
Draft responses to inquiries from tax authorities, outside consultants, and other business associates.
Update work plans, documentation and other reports as assigned to keep Managers apprised of project status. Prioritize and handle multiple tasks, and work under shifting deadlines.
Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to improve accuracy, reduce time and costs.
Assist with tax planning, work with outside consultants, and complete special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university. CPA, Masters in Taxation or Accounting is preferred.
5-8 years of corporate income tax experience including:
Federal income tax compliance
State income tax compliance for multi-state companies
International compliance for inbound company reporting
Working knowledge of the federal,  state, and international income tax laws
Corporate income tax return preparation for large taxpayer, Schedule M computations, Schedule M-3, computation of tax credits, book to tax adjustments, and consolidations.
Understanding of state income tax compliance including nexus, apportionment, unitary principles, combined and consolidated reporting.
Understanding of 5471 reporting, 1120F filings, 163(j) computations, and Canadian tax requirements.
Accounting experience
Understanding of GAAP income tax accounting principles, IFRS experience, a plus.
Understanding of ASC740 principles including deferred taxes, valuation allowances, and tax reserves.
Ability to obtain data from ERP system, reconcile accounts, and capture information needed for tax computations.
Familiarity with balance sheet, P&L and supporting schedules to prepare book to tax reports and tax returns.
Working knowledge of Corptax Income Tax Compliance software including efiling procedures, understanding of Corptax Tax Provision software, a strong plus.
Experience, motivation and drive to make continuous process improvement.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and Adobe products.
Multitasking and being a team player with good written and verbal communications skills.
