Job Description

At Morton Salt in Hutchinson KS, the Maintenance Engineering Technician is responsible for the Automation and Controls functions in the facility:

Responsible for ensuring Plant Automated Equipment;  Robots, PLC’s and process control equipment is functioning as designed/required.

Responsible for assisting in troubleshooting/repair of plant automation and controls

Responsible for Developing & Executing IT/Automation projects; Proposing, Managing, and Assisting with Engineering projects, and managing contractors as necessary.

Accountable/Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting telecommunication equipment; PBX and Phones, maintaining and troubleshooting Plant PCs and Printers.

This is a salaried position, typical work week is Monday – Friday, daylight hours.

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions; The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
