Job Description



Position Title:  Driver I



I.            Job Requirements and Difficulty of Work

Requires knowledge of, at minimum, One (1) primary equipment and all secondary equipment at the Company, including but not limited to, Case/farm Tractors, Tractor-Trailer Units, Lowboy Trailers, Tool Carriers (IT’s), Boats, Utility Trucks, Tankers, Forklifts, Bobcats, Personal Vehicles, and Buses.  Require boat operation skills. Requires arithmetic, written and verbal communication skills to record equipment operations into logbooks and respond to Management queries.  Requires the ability to operate equipment on all shifts, must possess a valid drivers license and nationally required equipment class licenses.  Requires adherence to Company Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures.  Requires High School Diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of work experience or the equivalent.

Responsibility

Works under general supervision and is responsible for all aspects of equipment operation during shift.  Follows general guidelines and uses judgment and initiative to complete the majority of duties.  Error impact is typically major and usually detectable by the individual and may cause a loss of harvest production tonnage. 

III.          Physical Effort

              Lifts heavy objects, climbing, bending and occasional work in confined spaces.

IV.         Work Environment

Works mostly outdoors and in weather conditions.  Moderate exposure to hazardous conditions, such as: extreme heat, noise, and exposure to fuels and oils (i.e., skin contact and fumes).  Requires regular use of PPE steel toe boots, coveralls, safety glasses, hard hats and earplugs.



Duties: This job is located within the Operations at Morton Bahamas Limited with responsibility for the operation of, Heavy, Medium and Light Equipment and auxiliary. This job involves the safe operation, monitoring, and inspection of primary and secondary Equipment at the Company; including but not limited to, Case/farm Tractors, Tractor-Trailer Units, Lowboy Trailers, Tool Carriers (IT’s), Boats, Utility Trucks, Tankers, Forklifts, Bobcats, Personal Vehicles, and Buses. Good technical knowledge of these equipment and components and the ability to use specialize tools are required. Adhere to and report on Company Environmental Health and Safety policies. Good technical knowledge of equipment auxiliary (gauges and computer) application(s). Mechanical technology principles are required. Works under general supervision and follows established guidelines and procedures. Duties may include: • Operate and monitor equipment to ensure maximum harvest and ship loading tonnage. • Ensure the daily inspection, document maintenance log checklist once per shift for the purpose of operating on-line. • Service and maintain at operational standards all components: regularly refueling, servicing, and lubricating operational equipment. • Advise mechanics of problems including leaks and failures, perform minor breakdown repairs, and assist mechanics with major repairs. • Follows task assignments as directed by Management to ensure specifications and quality performance. • Reviewing and inspecting completed work to ensure adherence to specifications and quality performance. • Performs a variety of other related duties including cleaning and equipment turnover at shift change. • Prepares reports with regards to the performance of equipment and auxiliary. This includes reports such as: daily inspection log, maintenance and repair logs and equipment downtime reports. Execute specific task assignments as directed by Management.

Job Requirements

Education

Requires High School Diploma or equivalent with nationally required equipment class licenses.
