ELECTRICAL FOREMAN 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the incumbent ensures safe, efficient management and up keep of critical production and support assets. Electrical Foreman directs resources in the Maintenance of production equipment, stationary production equipment, Mine Hoisting plant, department safety, Capital Project submissions and capital project execution. Electrical Foreman is responsible for Long term Maintenance Planning and budgeting, Managing and Ensuring Compliance with regulatory federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to industrial and Mining codes.

Responsibilities SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENT 

The Electrical Foreman ensures work execution, oversee all electrical and IT activates, a resource for maintenance department “Lean On”, consulted for difficult decisions, looking out 1+ Months, communicate on timelines, project work, combining repairs, contact with production, auditing procedures and work performance. The electrical Foreman is a site shared resource for both surface and underground Maintenance departments. The electrical Foreman is responsible for the planning and scheduling of electrical work. The electrical foreman works closely with the site electrical engineer and is responsible for indirectly supervising the day to day electrical activities of site electricians and instrumentation technicians and directly supervising special electrical jobs.

 

JOB DUTIES 

  • Function as part of Morton’s MEWP Team.
  • Review new technology with possible implementation.
  • Compare estimated time versus actual performance which relates to output.
  • Parts acquisition-particularly planned weekends ensuring parts are on-site.
  • Establish Spare parts.
  • Input in new equipment selection.
  • Ensure up to date manuals are on-site.
  • References equipment and technical information including blueprints and specifications.
  • Review new ready to plan work orders.
  • Update work order status.
  • Review priority and sort work orders.
  • Provide conflict feedback to customer.
  • Review material needs.
  • Requisition needed materials.
  • Evaluate procedural requirements.
  • Request needed procedures.
  • Evaluate regulatory requirements.
  • Request regulatory compliance support.
  • Route shutdown work orders.
  • Route capital work orders.
  • Evaluate documentation requirements.
  • Provide documentation input format.
  • Request JSA “Job Safety Analysis” support.
  • Evaluate special equipment needs.
  • Evaluate QA/ QC requirements.
  • Develop detailed work order package.
  • Review backlog for related work orders.
  • Participate in job walk-through.
  • Oversee and manage MOC- to work orders.
  • Generate standard jobs.
  • Establish planned trades resources.
  • Confirm WO scope meets expectations.
  • Document definition and estimates in the CMMS.
  • Discuss reliability/ maintenance improvement with unit reliability Engineer.
  • Distribute maintenance and repair jobs to Maintenance supervisors and technicians
  • Audit work packages and electrical crew quality.
  • Review ready-to-schedule backlog.
  • Build weekly unit maintenance schedule.
  • Build daily unit maintenance schedule.
  • Adjust schedules.
  • Update CMMS.
  • Plan and organize maintenance non-routine jobs safely and within an approved budget.
  • Actively participate in Morton Salt Continuous Improvement program.
  • Train team members in all areas of major responsibility to promote succession planning.
  • Perform periodical and scheduled inspection programs to maintain Morton Salt assets and infrastructure according to established mine maintenance and engineering standards and maintain them in a good condition.
  • Assist in training new employees by providing instruction on procedures; familiarize new employees with operations and review work assignments in order to orient employee and optimize performance.
  • Efficiently direct preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, project installations, and refurbishment repairs and manage assign maintenance staff according to work requirements and priorities.
  • In case of accidents, perform survey, report accident as per existing policy, proceed for repair, and issue a report-with photos whenever required.
  • Ensure smooth job handover to the next shift, with required documentation in the case of special projects.
  • Report difficulties faced during assigned shift, deficiencies in staff performance and propose necessary suggestions to overcome them and improve crew skills.
  • Supervise maintenance and repair works directly or through supervisors, communicate correct procedures and assign duties as required.
  • Collaborate with and assist in training of Morton Salt Engineering Staff as required. Ensure that Contractors are performing according to contractual obligations with Morton Salt.
  • Prepare the routine and necessary reports as required.
  • Open, review and close Work Orders in SAP, prepare Purchase Requisitions and estimate
    Work with other maintenance software tools as required.
  • Active participant in performing Root Cause Analysis of failures.
  • Maintain production goals and objectives as a team with focus on key performance indicators.
  • Ensure all tasks or activities are executed and aligned with Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Work Instructions at all times.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications Five years of Electrical Experience preferred
