Job Description

The General Manager safely leads all activities related to operating an evaporated salt production facility.  The General Manager plans and directs the activities of assigned employees to ensure compliance with Company Policy and government regulations while meeting or exceeding established targets and KPI’s for safety, people, quality, production, cost and service. 

  • Ensure the safety of the manufacturing environment by maintaining compliance with Company Policy and government regulations.
  • Provide site leadership and own responsibility for compliance with company quality and environmental standards, and all other duties that impact product safety, legality and quality systems.
  • Develop short and long-term strategies to optimize and sustain manufacturing process including, but not limited to, the ongoing operation of reliable supply of raw materials, maintenance that effectively supports all departments, safe procedures and operating behaviors for manufacturing actives and optimization of reliability initiatives throughout the facility.
  • Analyze plant and department budgets and allocate operating and capital expenses in line with organizational objectives.
  • Lead culture and employee engagement efforts in both salaried and hourly/bargaining unit workforce, including labor relations, training and development, performance management, and succession planning.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years manufacturing experience, including a minimum of five (5) years Production/Technical/ Maintenance management experience in a similar, unionized environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Major in Engineering or another related technical field strongly preferred
  • Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • Experience in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating action plans and developing and implementing new strategies
  • Ability to motivate a team and effectively accomplish tasks through others; ability to foster a cooperative work environment in a matrix organization
