Job Description

This position provides leadership, direction, and oversight to specific manufacturing locations, for Quality and Product Safety.  This role exists to ensure the facility delivers the required standards of quality and product safety according to Morton policies, procedures, and practices.  This role is also responsible for delivery of continuous improvement and working with Corporate Quality in the execution of company programs.  The role delivers these accountabilities through direct involvement with operations, supply chain, corporate quality, and the plants leadership team.
This position is required to provide a high degree of focus on continuous improvement, innovation and the ability to ensure quality and product safety of all products being produced and packaged in their region of responsibility

 Working with the local Facility Managers, direct the Quality activities of manufacturing sites, including all sites where Food and Pharmaceutical products are produced.  Responsible for direct supervision for all Quality personnel at these facilities.
Manage contamination prevention programs for the facilities in their assigned region
Investigate, act, and resolve customer Quality issues at the facilities in their assigned region
Lead Consumer/Customer Complaint Reduction Teams
Maintain BRC Certification for all food producing facilities in their region
Manage Quality KPI Objectives for the faciliites in their region
Oversee the expansion of certification of plants to ISO 9001 as directed.
Provide support and leadership to the Stage Gate and Innovation teams during new product development and to the Director, Operations Technical Support during Continuous Improvement Activities
Implement Quality Training Program
Implement new policies/procedures
Monitor compliance to quality policy and programs and perform Annual Quality Reviews
Implement improved Housekeeping/ Inspection Methods
Implement product traceability improvements
Implement product evaluation system(PES)
Lead 5S initiative implementation in quality labs
Innovation- lead in plant stage gate-quality testing
Partner with plants in determining plant capabilities during innovation projects
Lead on site product reviews and assure product meets image as defined by the developer
Identify and communicate any quality concerns in relation to new equipment & construction
Participate in Capability studies/Challenge studies

A 4-year degree in the Sciences or Engineering is required for this position.  A minimum of 8 years of management experience in the food and/or Pharmaceutical industry is required.
HACCP certification required. FSMA PCQI and GFSI (BRC or SQF) certification preferred
Thorough technical knowledge of quality is required as well as thorough knowledge of applicable regulations, GMP and Food Safety standards in accordance to applicable regulatory bodies (FDA, CFIA, etc).
Strong auditing and assessment skills are required.
Strong written & verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strengths and ability to work effectively with a team are required.  Prior Quality Experience in managing people and processes is preferred.    
Computer software skills to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
This position travels extensively between facilities.
