  • Ten years’ experience in the mining industry, preferred; including a minimum of 5 years’ experience with rock mechanics.

  • Experience dealing with people on the front line; preferably in unionized environments

  • Engineering degree or technical certification in Underground Mining or Geotechnical Studies

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Job Requirements

Reporting to the Surface Superintendent, this person will be responsible for providing technical leadership on Rock Mechanics challenges and solutions. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing weekly inspections on an underground network of control instruments.

  • Establishing key locations in underground workings to capture rock behavioral attributes and confirm definitions of modes of failure at the Fairport Mine Site.

  • Consult with Production Supervisors and Engineering Department to ensure ground control program and policy are being completed correctly and ensures State of Ohio Ground Control and Mine Plan is followed.

  • Ensures EH&S policies and procedures are properly communicated to employees, visitors and contractors. Promotes safe work practices and conditions.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
