Job Description

Reporting to the Director or Transportation this role will be responsible for:
•    Managing the procurement of Transportation Services and maintaining contracts with Import/Export, Flatbed, LTL and Parcel transportation providers
•    Prepare RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs. 
•    Lead negotiations with carriers to obtain competitive rates, mitigate price increases and ensure carrier capacity requirements. 
•    Assist with entry of rates into TMS system accurately and on time.
•    Serve as point of contact for customer on order execution such as; order date changes, order cancellations, release of orders for execution, status questions or issues, quality or logistics performance issues.
•    Coordinate solutions cross functionally for daily logistics execution issues with carriers ensuring seamless on-time deliveries while exceeding both internal and external customer expectations and KPI’s/performance metrics. 
•    Monitor shipment status to ensure timely shipment & delivery of orders.
•    Monitor, root cause and resolve EDI failures related to shipment execution between our carriers or vendors and SAP.
•    Manage the transportation freight claims process.
•    Serve as point of contact for company fleet drivers and ensure DOT regulations are followed.
•    Support internal projects focusing on continuous improvement, with a focus on eliminating waste, reducing cost and driving on-time delivery performance with our carriers and 3PL providers.
•    Identifying, documenting and escalating areas of logistics cost savings opportunities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, of Operations Management (preferred) and/or
  • 3 years  of experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations and/or Project Management 
  • Experience with SAP, Warehouse Management or Transportation Management systems, Business Warehouse or similar reporting packages, databases and analytical tools (highly preferred)
  • Familiarity with transportation regulatory or warehousing requirements
  • Strong communication skills.  Ability to effectively interact with various levels internally & externally.
  • Ability to work independently as well as across functionally or within a matrix team structure. 
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of organization, follow through & accuracy. Ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of key performance metrics, on-time delivery, inventory, etc. 
  • Desire to develop knowledge of the business while serving as the primary point of contact for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Can cite examples of execution and follow through when managing critical deadlines.
  • Interest in learning about the industry
