Job Description

The jobholder will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting government bids, government contracts, and processing quotes in regards to Bulk Deicing. This includes responsibility for bid and contract set-up, quote set-up and all maintenance associated with these set-ups within the system.  The set-up and maintenance of bids and contracts is performed in conjunction with accurate analysis of customer bids and contractual requirements. Various reporting as required by contract.

Responsibilities Review bid documents and specifications received from various government entities for bids with a potential revenue value of up to $20 million.
Review any associated local laws and legal requirements as defined in the bid documents.
Identify, analyze and interpret the bid documents in comparison to prior year documents and Morton’s business practices, procedures and business requirements.
Enroll Morton in bidder’s lists, online events, etc. as needed.
Document in Morton’s bid system the non-price (product and performance) bid requirements.
Gather, prepare, validate, and document data and other pertinent information for financial analysis to assist in making pricing decisions.
Calculate and apply pricing to each individual bid as directed by management.
Assist with special bidding events (i.e. question and answer sessions, online bidding events, etc.).
Participate in online bid training events as needed.
Monitor bid opening dates and obtain the results of bids within one day of opening.
Obtain results of quote offers by making arrangements with salesperson, buyers or outside temporary agencies to secure bid results information on a timely basis.
Enter awards into system in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain required document records as defined by the company retention policy.
Process quotes for customers in assigned states.
Identify, correct, and release orders for processing that have been placed in a “Hold Status.”
Monitor and evaluate customer compliance to determine what action should be taken when a customer is approaching or has met their stated contractual requirements.
Assist customer service and sales with daily monitoring of customer orders during the winter season.
Create customer reports as required according to bid requirements.
Perform various projects to prepare for each bid season.
Perform special projects as requested.
Assist with bid preparation as needed.
Assist other departments with bid process as directed (Retail/B2B Bulk Water Conditioning Muni bids, etc.)
Backup the Bid Preparation Specialists as required to meet the timely execution and submittal of bids

Periodic overtime required to meet deadlines, generally between April and September of each year
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to develop long-distance relationships with customers
Excellent time management skills.
Must be able to work independently.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including running and developing reports
Proficiency with SAP
  
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree Required in Business Admin, Mathematics, or Finance
Master’s Degree Preferred
2+ years of experience in business or related field
