Job Description

The Director , Operations Excellence (OE), The America’s is responsible for the overall strategy relating to operating excellence and delivering the overall corporate approach to continuous improvement. Responsible for defining and overseeing operational performance KPI’s for the purposes of developing baseline data and driving improvement from it. Lastly, this role leads a team of 4 direct reports with dotted line responsibility for site level SME’s for OE (24) on the OE team. This role is based in Chicago 

Responsibilities Responsible for development of the Operations Excellence continuous improvement strategy (to include workplan, metrics, desired outcomes)
Talent management of the OE team to include performance management, succession planning and resource allocation
Oversee the PMO for Operations OE projects
Communicate and partner with General Manager community on OE initiatives and indirectly manage OE work for plant OE SME’s
Work collaboratively with K+S OE partners for unified efforts where appropriate
Define and deliver KPI’s and dashboards to track operations performance
Identifies and communicates best practices across all operations divisions and channels to develop and drive consistency in work processes and benchmarking standards of performance
Operations leader for continuous improvement acting as the key driver in developing and implementing a culture of continuous improvement
Active participant and leader in K+S digitization strategy development and execution
Member of the OTEC team

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or other related technical field
7+ years of experience plant operations or project oversight
Leadership skills to direct workflow and lead a team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Excellent interpersonal skills in particular the ability to get results through others and with others and collaboration skills
Must be enthusiastic, self-motivated and demonstrate excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
Ability to define processes and execution as well as provide oversight
Lives by Morton Salt’s values daily and sets an example as a role model of them to others
Ability to prioritize workload for self and team based on business need.  Must be able to meet business needs given competing priorities.
Demonstrates agility and the ability to meet tight deadlines and make quick decisions in a very versatile environment.
