Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, performs electrical installation, maintenance, repair and construction work.

  • Is proficient in all phases of electrical work to include; electrical troubleshooting, ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics, conduit layout, installation of electrical controls and power feed, etc.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the facility electrical installations and systems and some knowledge of work performed in other maintenance classifications.
  • Uses all tools and equipment to perform electrical tasks such as; conduit benders, threading machines, instruments, hand and power tools, drill press, rigging equipment, etc.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of electrical mathematics to calculate wire and conduit sizes, electrical loads, etc.
  • Assists in making layouts or diagrams for new or revised installations as required.
  • Has a sound working knowledge required to perform the installation and troubleshooting of programmable controllers.
  • Possesses the knowledge required to perform the inspection, testing, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of the facility instrumentation.
  • May perform routine tasks such as lubrication, cleaning and inspection of equipment.
  • Keep work area, tools and equipment clean, neat and orderly and in good repair.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout the department and plant.
  • Perform other work of a related nature within the job classification.
  • Usually works with a minimum of direction, occasionally directs the work of others, and will, on occasion, assist in training those with lesser skills.
  • Frequently works with employees of other classifications and may, on occasion, perform work of a lesser skill in other maintenance classifications.
Notify supervision of any issues, understanding the importance of product safety, quality and legality.  Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and is familiar with the principles of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) program.
Is familiar with the Environmental Management System policy, procedures or work instructions and understands the potential consequences of departure from the requirement.  Notify management of any observed or potential compliance issues or nonconformities.

Qualifications State of Michigan Electrical license.  A Masters license is preferred.
One to three years of experience with instrumentation and controls.
