Engineering Technician in Weeks Island at Morton Salt

Job Description

This job is a support role for the Engineering Group at the Weeks Island Facility. Surveying and other applicable technical skills are required to provide hands on mine and surface monitoring, analysis and mapping.

Engineering technician will work closely with Engineering and Mine Production Groups focused on regular sampling, monitoring, testing, and mapping of the underground mine and overlying surface. This role requires regular visits to the mine to monitor mine production and environmental conditions such as ground movement, ventilation, and subsidence. Individual required to successfully measure, ensure data integrity, analyze, process and communicate results. Attention to detail and applicable skillset is required to identify and communicate any potential concerns related to movement or other anomalies.

Must be able to work independently with little instruction.

Qualifications
  • Must have PS or show continued progress towards certification
  • Mine surveying experience is preferred
  • College degree preferred
  • AutoCAD experience is required
  • Experience working with surveying equipment such as total station and level as well as other data logging equipment
  • Ability to work in an underground environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Field work will include underground and surface industrial environment where potential dust, high temperatures, and other industrial and mine related hazards may be encountered. High work will be needed for measurement and monitoring activities
