Job Description

The primary responsibility of this position is managing quality and food safety activities to assure ongoing achievement of product specification and quality requirements at External Manufacturing and Storage locations. The scope of this role includes quality and food safety program oversight at Contract Manufacturers, Contract Packers, Third Party Logistics Warehouses, and Stockpiles..

Responsibilities Leads Quality and Food Safety program development with external manufacturing, packing, and storage partners to ensure compliance to Morton Salt policies and food safety and regulatory requirements.
Partners with Morton Salt Auditing team to provide audit support and assist in the development of corrective/preventive action plans against gaps.
Collaborate with Regional Quality Managers to drive consistency in policy development and adherence through internal and external manufacturing sites.
Quality representation on Innovation and Commercialization project teams to ensure all external product launches meet design, food safety, and quality policy requirements.
Monitors and reports consumer/customer complaints and trends; Identifies and directs appropriate corrective/preventive action plans with cross functional partners.
Partner with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to ensure that warehouse and carriers meet the applicable Quality and Food Safety standards.
Provide training and coaching to external partners to drive compliance with Morton Salt, regulatory and industry standards and best practices.     

Qualifications Bachelor degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering or other related field.
 8-10 years’ experience in Food or Pharmaceutical Industry experience required.
Must have strong knowledge of food safety and quality managements systems (ISO 9001, FSMA, GFSI, etc.), statistical process. control, structured problem solving and continuous improvement concepts and practices.
Must have demonstrated experience with driving change and motivating others, and leading teams that are not direct reports.
Experience in quality policy and program creation and implementation strongly desired.   
 
HACCP certification is required.
FSMA PCQI certification preferred, must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Six Sigma/Lean certification or other Continuous Improvement/Problem Solving experience strongly desired.
 
This position will be based in Chicago and will require approximately 50% travel including overnight stays.
