Job Description

The Analyst will report to the Sr. Manager Finance, North America, CapEx and Special Projects and will work closely with Operations Technical Services, Financial Accounting and other project owners.
 

Responsibilities       
Collaborate with project owners to insure accuracy in capital spend reporting via investment orders in SAP
Partner with Operations Technical Services resource and Financial Accounting to analyze projects, including the proper allocation between expense and capital
Partner with HQ, IT & R&D project owners to insure timely project spend reporting, closeouts and creation of final assets by General Accounting
           
Monthly Close:
      
Consolidate reporting of capital spending for senior management
Monitor and analyze actual spending compared to budget/forecast, and report/explain results to department manager and senior management;   make recommendations to minimize variances to budget and forecast
Prepare management schedules and analyses
Balanced Scorecard process; insure accuracy and timeliness of the data needed for the calculation of the CapEx related KPI’s
           
Forecasting/Budgeting:  
   
Assist in the overall preparation of the consolidated annual capital budget for Morton Salt
Analyze the capital spending forecast submissions for reasonableness and completeness
Assist in preparing the monthly capital spending forecast for submission to management
Quantify/Qualify the impact of changes to the forecast by project / driver
           
 Project Analysis:   
 
Assist in the support and financial analysis for the capital budgeting process, capital projects and special projects including cash flow, NPV, ROCE calculations, etc.
Work with Operations Technical Services resource to insure completeness in capital project planning
      
Other:
Provide support for financially impacted projects for the company, including analysis related to future business / strategic decision-making
Provide required information in support of the annual audit
Perform/Assist on internal reviews/audits of actual project returns vs projected
Ad-hoc requests and special projects, as required
 
 

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: 
5 years of experience in Finance/Accounting
Finance/Accounting degree required
Strong analytical skills
Well developed communication skills
Be results oriented, self-starter with the ability to work with limited direction
Able to perform root-cause investigations
Be able to work well within tight deadlines
Be organized and detail oriented; comfortable working with large amounts of data
Have the ability to exude confidence
 
Required Experiences will include:     
SAP experience – experience with SAP Project Systems Module highly desired
Previous experience with spending analysis
Previous manufacturing accounting experience a plus
Proficiency with Microsoft Office product suite; specifically Excel
