Job Description

This position is a sales representative in the Industrial Sales organization of Morton Salt. 

Responsibilities Call on existing and potential customers to sell Morton Salt products.
Maximize sales revenue and profitability of the assigned geographic territory.
Develop sales strategies for assigned customers and potential customers.
Negotiate customer agreements and contracts.
Communicate customer requirements to sales management, marketing, customer service and manufacturing.
Find & develop new customers, in alignment with sales & marketing goals.
Manage distributors within geography to include training and joint sales calls.
Utilize CRM system to gather, assimilate and analyze market and competitive information.
Assist in formulation and implementation of long and short-term strategic sales plans for accounts within assigned area.
Become proficient in technical aspects of selling salt.
Participate in industry trade shows.
Qualify and develop potential customer leads as received from various sources (trade shows, email, and Morton web site inquiries).
Coordinate with Morton Salt quality assurance, technical support, transportation and regulatory affairs personnel to prepare documents and meet requests for information from government agencies and customer accounts.
Operate within assigned expense budget.
 

Qualifications Education - B.S. degree preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of experience selling chemicals, food ingredients or raw materials to manufacturers is desired.
Jobholder requires good organizational and planning skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
Must possess a drive to produce results, a strong bias for action and determination to follow-through on tasks until completion.
Must possess persuasive abilities and negotiation skills in order to influence current and potential customers to purchase Morton Salt products.
Knowledge of the various products, markets, application technology and customer base is helpful
A basic business understanding of how sales and marketing efforts relate to company bottom line profits is necessary.
Knowledge of computer programs including Outlook, and all Microsoft Office Suite products is necessary. SAP and Database program experience is helpful.
