Job Description

The jobholder implements logistics strategy, balancing the needs of Morton’s cross-functional teams.  The jobholder monitors carrier daily activities to include performance and meeting customer delivery expectations.  Ensures sufficient capacity within the Logistics network. The jobholder contributes to the departments KPIs and identifies opportunities to improve supply chain cost, efficiency and service to Morton Salt’s customers

Responsibilities Serve as point of contact for carriers in assigned area of responsibility for both internal and external parties related to order execution status questions or issues, quality or logistics performance issues.
Coordinate solutions for daily logistics execution issues with carriers and customers, as well as internal supply chain personnel to ensure seamless on-time deliveries while exceeding both internal and external customer expectations and KPI’s/performance metrics.
Able to negotiate competitive rates with carriers on specific lanes in the region.
Interface independently with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization.
Monitor shipment status to ensure timely shipment & delivery of orders on dates requested.
Assist in providing information for Logistics invoice discrepancies and claim issues.
Assist with obtaining signed copies of BOL’s from carriers for proof of delivery inquiries.
Provide feedback on carrier capacity and performance.
Support internal projects focusing on continuous improvement, with a focus on eliminating waste, reducing cost and driving on-time delivery performance with our carriers
Identify, document and escalate areas of logistics cost savings opportunities on an ongoing basis
Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred with preference towards Business, Logistics, Operations Management or 3 years  of experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations and/or Project Management
Experience with SAP, Warehouse Management or Transportation Management systems, Business Warehouse or similar reporting packages, databases and analytical tools highly preferred.
Familiar with transportation regulatory requirements
Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Exhibits confidence and ability to interact with various levels both internally & externally.
Able to work independently as well as across functional or matrix team structures.
Strong analytical skills with high level of organization, follow through & accuracy. Ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of key performance metrics, on-time delivery, inventory, etc.
Able to develop knowledge of the business while serving as the primary point of contact for the assigned area of responsibility.
Able to prioritize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong track record for execution and follow through when managing critical deadlines.
Displays great integrity, trust and an interest in learning about the industry.
