Job Description

To supervise the unit responsible for electrical maintenance and repair of mine equipment including ventilating and conveyor systems, haulage equipment, drills, scaling machines. Mine shafts including hoists and related electrical components.

  • Supervising continuous electrical and mechanical maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Collaborating with mine production on maintenance related situations.
  • Requisitioning/ordering parts for mine equipment/machinery; contacting outside vendors for parts, materials, and personnel for repairs, may arrange for procurement of outside contractors to carry out specific maintenance and repair assignments.
  • Inspect shifts, including loading pocket and shaft bottoms (for mucking), hoists and mine surface facilities to ensure compliance with Morton and MSHA safety rules and regulations. Check and countersign shaft and hoist log books.
  • Supervising the disassembly, transport underground and reassembly of mine equipment/machinery.
  • Making inspections of mine equipment to promote safe/efficient operations and to schedule required maintenance.
  • Other duties as agreed upon by incumbent and supervisor.
  • Makes decisions regarding operations matters, manpower, allocation, priority setting.
  • Has the authority to schedule overtime with approval of mine management, establish daily priorities, and discipline unit employees.
  • Subject to being on call during evenings and weekends.
Qualifications High School diploma or the equivalent required
Electrical training/certification required
3 – 6 years Maintenance (heavy equipment) preferably mining.
