Job Description


Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, maintain, service and modify packaging system, buildings and warehouse equipment.


  • Support site management in the safety goal to become VPP certified.  Hold the safety of self and others in the highest regard.  Comply with Company, State and Federal safety rules and regulations.
  • Works from complex drawings, sketches and verbal instructions given by the supervisor.
  • Maintain and repair all mechanical equipment anywhere in the plant.
  • Is competent in the use of millwright and welding equipment.
  • Is qualified in rigging and handling heavy equipment, brazing, soldering and cutting.
  • Works from scaffolds and ladders.
  • Performs routine equipment inspections as assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining tools and equipment in good operating condition.
  • Operate all equipment throughout the facility on an as needed basis.
  • Perform machine set-up for production runs.
  • Assist in organizing and leading maintenance operations for the facility.
  • Maintain facility buildings and grounds.
  • Perform mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical and light pneumatic.
  • Perform routine tasks such as; lubrication, cleaning and inspection, and may be assigned the regular inspection of some operations.
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings and schematics.
  • Maintain records of installation and repairs of equipment to minimize downtime, analyzed from computerized files and PM program.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of parts and supplies needed for repairs to minimize downtime of equipment.
  • Communicate needs for anticipated repairs of equipment on a computerized database to track activities ensuring work is documented and on file.

  • Perform other duties related to maintenance and production or similar nature or level as directed.
  • Keep working area and equipment clean, neat and orderly.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout the department and plant.
  • Perform work safely, utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and permits.  Notify supervision of any issues, understanding the importance of product safety, quality, and legality.  Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices; maintain accurate production records as required and is familiar with the principles of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Program.
  • Complete a wide variety of skilled and semi0skilled troubleshooting, maintenance, modification and repair work in assigned operations such as automatic and semi-automatic bagging equipment, conveying, palletizing, service equipment and general facility maintenance.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess 4-5 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Must be willing to work any shift and work overtime
  • Knowledge of Safety rules and regulations
  • Basic computer skills; Word, Excel, Windows
  • Basic inventory control
  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications and technical materials
  • Possess the communication and inter-personal skills necessary to interact with co-workers, supervisors, truck drivers and customers sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Knowledge of packaging equipment, belt conveyors, screw conveyors, screeners and mechanical equipment
  • Ability, skill and willingness to drive forklift
