Job Description

Oversees the safe and efficient operation of the maintenance area within a manufacturing facility.  Plans, directs, and controls all aspects of the maintenance process such as environmental compliance, production/processing support, quality control and maintenance. Accountable for all Maintenance Activities associated with the facility.

Responsibilities Accountabilities

  • Accountable for operating department in compliance with OSHA, Company EHS Rules and Quality Standards
  • Accountable for the All Salt Storage, Solar Salt Screening and Solar and Rock Salt Bagging, Site Maintenance and Reliability coordination and Production planning in accordance with demand
  • Accountable for Process system controls to deliver a consistently high quality product
  • Accountable for area budget / cost, volume and quality. Manages small project capital budget.
  • Accountable for equipment and process reliability.
  • Works with other departments to meet plant goals and commitments.
  • Participates in Production and Maintenance coordination.
  • Ensures that department is using standard business processes.
  • Oversees networks and consistency across the plant.
  • Delivers on special project assignments.


  • Participates in capital budget and portfolio management.
  • Participates in succession planning activities.
  • Facilitates interactions between organizations.
  • Develops area manufacturing strategy and cascades the strategy to establish individual employee expectations.
  • Responsible for Performance Management of direct reports.
  • All associated maintenance in regards to the buildings, grounds, equipment and accessories for the packaging facility.
  • Directly involved in the hiring and discipline of personnel for the department.
  • Requisition or Purchasing of all related needs/parts. Vendors are called for current cost, request is written, po # generated and vender is called black and order placed if required outside of the corporate procurement process. Secure majority of rental equipment for plant needs. Maintain spare parts inventory and parts room for all associated needs.
  • Direct and indirect supervision, training and coaching of maintenance mechanics, manage outside contractors in regards to mobile maintenance and needed purchasing. Coordinate contractors for all repairs outside the abilities of in-house mechanics. (Major welding, electrical or structural repairs) Department budgets for parts, services as well as labor. Monthly reports submitted along with detail explanation of variances
  • Utilizing SAP and management tools, manage the preventive maintenance program for the production equipment, building maintenance, mobile equipment and plant accessories.
  • Champion the MEWP process within the facility.
  • Suggest improvements in the processes and equipment to ensure quality and reliability to reach production goals and adherence to schedule.
  • Management of capital projects and the budgets for each.
  • Performs other related duties, as required

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or other related technical degree.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years manufacturing experience, including a minimum of one (1) year Production/Technical/ Maintenance management experience.
  • 3 to 5 years supervisory experience preferred.
