Job Description

To apply engineering knowledge to mine planning, the layout of mine workings, the preparation of capital and expense projects, the supervision of engineering projects and surveying and updating of the mine map and records.

Responsibilities Responsibilities:

  • Conducting feasibility studies for proposed or assigned projects (includes investigation to collect data, estimation of cost and time requirements, report on alternatives and recommendations on courses of action).
  • Prepare and submit expense and capital projects for mine related purchases. Follow up to aid division review process. Provide additional information as needed.
  • Designing, developing, supervising work related to mining engineering projects.
  • Keep all project records and accounting up to date. Maintains all mine drawing technical records.
  • Conferring with buyers, vendors and contractors on equipment and service purchases for the mine; make technical engineering recommendations and inspects purchases upon delivery (e.g., loaders, fans, conveyor parts, etc.)
  • Conducting mine inspections to ensure safe operations/conditions on all projects and as requested by management. Perform ventilation and rock mechanics testing.
  • Coordinating construction work between consulting engineers, contractors, department supervisors and hourly employees on specific projects.
  • Consulting with mine management, production and maintenance personnel to provide engineering advice and knowledge on a specific day-to-day situations..
Qualifications 3-4 years Mine Engineering


  • Knowledge of rock and soil mechanics.
  • Able to apply mining engineering principles and concepts to actual situations.
  • Able to plan, organize and carry out project assignments from conception to completion.
  • Able to supervise others.
