Mine Production Foreman in Weeks Island at Morton Salt

Job Description

To supervise the activities of personnel engaged in underground mining operations. Can include both production and maintenance as well as above ground hoisting facilities.

Responsibilities Responsibilities:

  • Inspects mine to detect and resolve safety compliance, production and personnel problems. Includes checks of safety equipment worn by employees, visual checks of mine workings, checks condition of operating equipment, checks on where employees are working, checks equipment breakdowns, checks for noxious and explosive gases, checks on work progress, etc.
  • Supervise employees in extraction of rock salt from the mine.       Includes selecting employees to perform the work, assigning employees to jobs, instructing employees in proper performance of work (JSA), maintaining discipline, coordinating with other supervisors, assuming responsibility for proper application of established policies, procedures and union agreements.
  • Ensure time cards are properly filled out by employees.
  • Prepares production report, maintains communication with production superintendent, maintenance supervisors and other production supervisors.
  • Has authority to make specific work assignments consistent with production and maintenance demands.
  • Insures adherence to bargaining contract and governmental regulations and Company safety policies.
 

 

Qualifications
  • 3-6 years salt mining production
  • Extensive knowledge of mine operations, federal regulation and general safe job procedures.
  • Facility for effective communications to assign work, provide instructions and to discuss operations with management and hourly employees.
  • Ability to supervise others and maintain favorable employee/employer relationships.
