Job Description

The Planner/Scheduler provides comprehensive development of work order / work package documentation and schedule for the performance of maintenance work.   Conducts planning and scheduling meetings with Operations Representatives and others to allow for the effective use of maintenance resources in an agreed work schedule. The product of the planning and scheduling effort is the creation of an organized tasked work order complying with current facility guidelines and execution needs that becomes part of the work schedule for maintenance. 

  1. Responsible for building and managing the daily and weekly planned work schedules for maintenance.
  2. Manages Management of Change (MOC) in work orders.
  3. Responsible for the function, use, and content of the plant work order and CMMS system with in the Maintenance Organization.
  4. Reviews and manages the plant work order backlog with management.
  5. Requests and evaluates maintenance and plant procedures for work orders.
  6. Evaluates regulatory requirements and effects upon the maintenance process.
  7. Evaluates the use of GMP requirements for the facility.
  8. Processing auditing and review for improvement.
  9. Champions the MEWP process in the plant.
  10. Procures materials as needed for work order packages.
  11. Maintains the unit FAN (Field Action Notice/Delay Form) data base and file.
  12. Develops the daily and weekly planned work schedule for the plant.
  13. Assigns “hold” codes and priorities to work orders as required.
  14. Provides “feedback” to plant personnel on work order status.
  15. Daily schedule preparation, review, and update at scheduling meetings. Other scheduling as needed.
  16. Conducts work order priority reviews and work order sorting for scheduling.
  17. Provides data for key performance indicators (KPI’s)on craft utilization, work order completion, rework, etc. for report generation as needed.
  • High School Diploma or Equal
  • 2-year technical degree or a 4-year college degree is desirable.
  • Completion of a 4-year journeyman craft certified program
  • 5-years’ experience working in an industrial environment in maintenance
  • 7-years maintenance working experience.
  • Some planning and scheduling experience in industry.
