Job Description

The jobholder is accountable for delivering New Product Introduction (NPI) projects according to the schedule, costs and quality requirements defined for the project. The jobholder will lead cross-functional teams through the development of new products from concept to launch and are the point person that represents the project to the rest of the Morton Salt organization.

Responsibilities • Ensure new product projects are launched on-time, meet customer service level targets and are delivered within the budget
• Establish and lead recurring cross-functional project team meetings (Marketing, Operations, Procurement etc.) related to new product introduction
• Develop and own the NPI cross-functional project schedule including proactively identifying risks to meeting targeted launch dates, developing and driving mitigation plans, and escalating within and outside of the team, as necessary
• Lead project teams in preparation for management reviews, in particular Gate Reviews and Technical Reviews defined as part of the Morton Stage Gate process
• Collaborates with the Marketing counterpart to present the project at Gate Reviews and presents the project during Technical Reviews
• Determine accurate and timely cost of goods estimates for new products are provided for new product initiatives via the cost estimating process
• Coordinate the activities of the corresponding project team through cross-functional “sub-processes” within projects (e.g. preparing for and running production trials, new item setup in SAP, preparing sales samples etc.)
• Ensure critical risks to projects are escalated to senior management along with mitigation plans proposed to address the risks
• Ensure projects transition smoothly from the assigned project team and launch phase to the ongoing production and operations & supply chain functions supporting the ongoing business.
• Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization verbally and in writing. Effective in communicating to senior levels (Director, Senior Director & VP) of the Morton Salt organization
• Key performance measures include new product time-to-market, schedule adherence, and OTIF (on time and in full) of new items

Qualifications • Education — 4 year degree, with Master’s degree preferred
• 10 years of work experience, including 2+ years related experience managing multi-functional new product commercialization projects in a consumer packaged goods company
• Strong knowledge of Project Management practices and skills
• Strong MS Project capabilities and ability to demonstrate functionality with other project stakeholders
• Experience with the Stage Gate (or similar) process for new product development and launch
• Strong knowledge of new consumer product introduction processes
• Excellent leadership, influencing, and communication skills
• Strong partnering skills and ability to influence across multiple partners at different levels of the organization without formal authority
• Ability to develop a high level of credibility in the organization
