Job Description


The QC  Assurance Manager is responsible for the overall supervision and direction of facility quality operations in a manner that supports product safety, legality and quality systems.


  • Ensures Company, regulatory and customer quality expectations are met in production operations.
  • Reports activities as required by Company, regulatory and customer guidelines.
  • Ensures that inspections, training and monitoring of plant activities are properly followed as prescribed by Morton Quality Manual Policies.



  • Maintains fiscal and budget suitability of quality operations.
  • Responsible for personal and quality department adherence to safety guidelines and practices.
  • Write, implement or direct implementation of standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure HACCP practices are observed and monitored prior to release or approval of product.
  • Investigate and respond with corrective action to customer/consumer complaints.
  • Provides back-up support of QA chemist in his/her absence.
  • Ensure that quality staff is properly trained and laboratory is equipped to carry out effective quality operations.
  • Perform plant inspections on as-needed or prescribed frequency.
  • Reports Key Performance Indicators as directed by Chicago and facility management.
  • Implement necessary programs to ensure ongoing product quality and food safety are maintained.
  • Host regulatory, Company or customer audits and responds to all audit deficiencies in a timely manner.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other related science field.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience preferred
  • Computer proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) Lotus Notes
  • HACCP certification preferred

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Computer skills
  • Necessary technical skills pertaining to chemistry/analytical duties, instrument set-up and trouble shooting.
  • Effective communication skills necessary to work with facility personnel and/or customers.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems related to QC manual, USP protocols
  • High level of ethical integrity involving reporting to Morton, customer or regulatory agency personnel.
  • Ability to take initiative and do self monitoring regarding projects, actions, etc.
  • Maintains a customer focus in the decision making process.
  • Completes assigned tasks with high level of dependability.
  • Displays flexibility in work schedule and adaptability to current demands.
  • Complies with all EHS policies regarding safety and  code of conduct requirements.
