Quality Control Laboratory Technician

We are currently seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician to perform high level Quality Inspection, testing and support for all rock grades, agricultural, product and material operations. This position will report to the Quality Control Manager and rotate between the 2nd (evening) and 3rd (night) shifts. The QC Lab Technician accountable and responsible for daily input of data and generation of product COA’s, monitoring GMP guidelines and quality systems related to production, and finished product quality sampling, inspection, testing and control of all rock products.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for magnet inspection documentation distribution, collection and review.
  • Responsible for routine magnet and scalping screen HACCP inspections.
  • Responsible for the calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Responsible for the routine measurement of HACCP program magnet strength.
  • Responsible for completing analytical test method validation studies.
  • Maintain QC document storage and backup system.
  • Responsible for analytical testing of in-process and finished product testing according to prescribed procedures.
  • Conducts plant inspections of both product and processes, as prescribed by QC Manager.
  • Responsible for testing of incoming materials and ingredients according to testing schedule
  • Tests, documents and maintains laboratory fume hood exhaust testing on prescribed basis.
  • Documents, assembles and maintains all quality related documents in a legible manner according to documentation protocols.
  • Responsible for the generation, review, and revision of SOPs, WI’s and forms.
  • Responsible for providing testing assistance for in plant troubleshooting related to foreign material events or salt issues.
  • Responsible for preparing test chemical solutions.
  • Responsible for assisting with internal audits of the facility.
  • Responsible for maintaining laboratory cleanliness and housekeeping. • Performs all duties in safe manner observing all EHS standards and laboratory safety guidelines • Provides back-up support for other QC Technicians on an as needed basis
Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in testing background.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel). 
  • Working knowledge of SAP highly desirable.
  • Possesses technical and analytical skills to conduct prescribed testing.
  • Possesses good communication skills to work with facility personnel at all levels.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and GMP guidelines.
  • Displays high level of ethical integrity involving data and/or incident reporting.
  • Ability to take initiative and perform self-monitoring related to daily work and projects.
  • Demonstrates a customer focus in decision making.
  • Previous experience in following and adhering to EHS guidelines regarding safety and code of conduct.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule when overtime and weekend work is necessary.
  • Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to physically access all required work areas.
