Job Description

Morton Salt Inc., a K+S Company, is seeking applicants for a Quality Laboratory Specialist for our facility in Silver Springs, New York.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for monitoring for food safety and food security regulatory compliance
  • Responsible for all HACCP Analysis and any related HACCP issues, informing the QA Manager.
  • Responsible for coordinating mock product and material recalls/ withdrawals/training
  • Responsible for coordinating and organizing documentation associated with monthly GMP facility audits
  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating weekly safety meetings
  • Responsible for providing daily support to department and facility associate quality related inquiries
  • Responsible for reviewing plant inspection and testing records
  • Responsible for the generation, review, and revision of SOPs and QA forms
  • Responsible for industrial and consumer complaint investigation
  • Responsible for customer and Morton Salt Sales technical support and services (customer surveys, general inquiries, questionnaires, etc.)
  • Responsible for the review of well field brine chemistry and Brine treating data – trend data
  • Responsible for back-up support to QA Technicians and Quality Manager
  • Responsible for the generation, distribution, tracking and organization of nonconforming material reports
  • Responsible for Supplier Notification generation, distribution, and follow-up (coordinated with Procurement)
  • Responsible for first aid coverage for the facility. Must maintain first aid, CPR/AED certification and Blood borne Pathogens Training.
  • Responsible for completing assigned Goal Objectives as identified through the Morton Salt standardized performance management system
  • As HACCP Team Member shall ensure duties or work instructions are in place and communicated to all staff involved with the plant’s HACCP program and how it applies to product safety, legality, and quality.
  • Responsible for filling in for Quality Manager during absences and is familiar with all aspects of Manager’s role
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating in a production packaging environment.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Computer proficient. MS Office Suite, Excel, Microsoft Office, SAP experience preferred
  • Quality system experience preferred – BRC Global Standard, ISO 9001, FDA GMPs – Food and Pharmaceuticals
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications-Blood borne Pathogen Training
  • Possesses knowledge of technical information on the unit/area.
  • Demonstrates background knowledge of operating procedure and process.
  • Demonstrates respect, cooperation and responsibility
  • Normal working schedule is daylight shift - flexible schedule and overtime may be required. Responds to urgent or emergency situations outside of normal working hours, as needed.
