Job Description

The primary role of the Reliability/Maintenance Engineer is to provide engineering support to plant operations. In this role, the engineer provides equipment based or repair technique based solutions to improve the long term availability and maintainability of the facility. This role also serves as the subject matter expert for fixed and rotating equipment for plant wide operations.

Responsibilities Accountabilities

  • Manages the facility equipment bad actor program, performing reliability studies and developing improvement plans for bad actors, and regularly reporting results.
  • Facilitates RCA's for significant equipment failures and assists in the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Drafts failure modes and effect analysis sheets to identify units posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design.
  • Advises and confers with plant management in design review meetings to give reliability findings and recommendations.
  • Actively participates in shutdowns.
  • Helps ensure that OSHA and all plant safety programs are performing effectively.
  • Acts as a technical resource for engineers and craftspeople on reliability issues.
  • Writes maintenance procedures and trains technical team members, technicians, supervisors and craftspeople in all matters pertaining to reliability.
  • Owns the equipment management of change within the maintenance department.
  • Works within the maintenance department to achieve maintenance and reliability objectives.
  • Helps develop and implement Predictive Maintenance Programs
  • Reports on Key Reliability Performance Indicators.
  • Participates in evaluating the maintenance and reliability portion of OAU (Operating Asset Utilization).
  • Reviews engineering projects and major maintenance efforts from a reliability stand point.
  • Audits work packages for possible improvement.
  • Reviews equipment update information.
  • Helps keep equipment documentation complete and accurate, and up to date.
  • Updates unit-specific maintenance information needs.

  • Audits maintenance work completion data, (completion cycle, schedule compliance, repetitive failures, PM compliance, and close-out).
  • Responsibilities
  • Helps establish good maintenance practices.
  • Considers impact of costs on recommended action plans for avoiding/correcting problems during the design phase or remedial action for correcting downtime problems on installed equipment.
  • Plans and performs engineering research, design development or manufacturing/process engineering assignments including responsibility for major subsections of complex projects using general engineering practices influenced by the general theme of reducing downtime.
  • Coordinates and supervises projects to accomplish the objective of cost effective outage improvements.
  • Assignments are broad in nature and require appreciable originality and ingenuity for completing the assignments which have considerable latitude for non-reviewed action or decisions.
  • Follows company safety and health guidelines and other company policies. Performs other related duties, as required.

  • Ensures compliance with all HACCP requirements in physical plant through the management of programs and supervision of Maintenance, Mill/Loading and Power/Production department heads. Provides Leadership to Drive Continuous Improvements in Product Quality.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience operating in a manufacturing/maintenance environment.
  • Advanced knowledge/experience working with pumps
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Vibration analysis level 2 preferred
  • Supervisory experience a plus
