Job Description

This position is responsible for providing customer service and transportation support for all inbound and outbound transportation activities (rail, truck - both bulk and package) from the facility.  He/she ensures that a high level of service is maintained and customer deliver expectations are met while maximizing efficiencies relative to utilization of carrier, plant production and loading operations.  Resolves order and shipment issues. inquiries with external and internal sources.  Generates transportation documentation and information for processing outbound shipments.

This is a 2nd shift, M-F position.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for outbound order movement through the utilization of both internal and external functions for all modes of transportation
  • Coordinate solutions to daily transportation/logistics issues with carriers and internal customer service personnel to ensure seamless on-time deliveries while exceeding both internal and external customer expectations.
  • Serve as local point of contact for customer service related questions/issues. (ex: SOI’s, customer requirements, etc.)
  • Work closely with plant production and loading personnel to ensure all modes of transportation work within the daily product availability constraints and loading capacities while also managing detention/demurrage charges.
  • Perform trailer finish and release functions (print, audit, and distribute required shipping documents)
  •  
  • Maintain detention logs to track and report aged carrier equipment for detention charges.
  • When necessary, prepare documentation for international freight movement including customs paperwork and commerce department registration for all export shipments.
  • Monitor inbound trailer pool ensuring adequate trailers are maintained for outbound shipments.
  • Research and provide feedback re: facility transportation/service claims.
Daily Job Functions:

  • Manage appointments process, including drop and hook process.
  • Manage inbound Package Material and Ingredient activity in SAP
  • File Bills of Lading
  • Process and research rail and truck detention invoices
  • Assist with last minute carrier issues (cancelled appt, truck breakdown, etc)
  • Email rail report and monitor inbound rail activity
  • Verify actual weights on bulk shipments
Qualifications High School Diploma Required

Associate/Bachelor Degree Preferred or combination of education and experience.

Previous Shipping/Customer Service/Administrative Experience in a Manufacturing environment preferred

SAP Experience preferred.
