Job Description

This assignment includes working as part of a team with various members from the Supply Chain Team including Supply Planners and Marine Transportation as well as collaborating with the Logistics Team and outside vendor to develop a network optimization model for Morton’s bulk supply network.
 
The assignment will commence March 1, 2019 with analysis, scenario planning and recommendations scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2019. This will be followed by implementation and analysis on final results
 
 
 

Responsibilities Develop a network optimization model for the America’s to analyze bulk de-icing stockpiles for purposes of cost reduction and reducing network complexity. Model will be inclusive of mine production capacities, sales forecast, variable & fixed costs at mines/stockpiles, logistics costs for all modes on inbound & outbound transportation as well as constraints where applicable. This will require the assistance of many internal functional partners as well as the modeling resources provided by Chainalytics.
 
Analysis will include but not be limited to simulating closure of various stockpiles & analyzing impact on cost and complexity, Pugwash potential closure as well as potential use by the BDI sales & marketing & Logistics teams to award bids at the correct stockpiles and prepare transport lanes accordingly.
The specific goal will be to prepare presentation and provide recommendations for the scenario’s described above by end of June, evaluate by end of August and Execute end of December 2019.
 
Model will be inclusive of
 > 5,000 customers
14 million tons
Est. $500 MM in Logistics Costs
Scenario Planning

Qualifications 1-2 years of Operations and/or Procurement experience preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; advanced degree a plus
Intermediate knowledge of all MS Office Products
Strong internal and external customer focus with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with stakeholders, vendors, and customers
Strong interpersonal communication (both written and verbal), and organization skills
Strong analytical and innovative problem solving skills
